European form is well represented here with Campanelle vying for favouritism after her Prix Morny and Royal Ascot successes. We tipped her both days so she’s not easy to pass up, but with the mile trip an unknown there are better bets in this race at the prices. I like MADONE each-way at 16/1. She’s unbeaten and is a real trier, emerging from the pack to win all three starts so far. As a hold up horse, she’ll always be vulnerable to giving away a soft lead or encountering traffic, but such tactics lead to smaller winning margins and prevent her from getting a big rating, so she has slipped under the radar. I’d rather try and get her placed with an outside chance of winning than decide between the three at the top of the market.
