I’m following Dan Skelton’s mare MOMELLA as she’s pitched into handicap company in the closing race of Cheltenham Saturday card.
Put up on her previous start in graded company, also at Cheltenham, she ran a blinder to finish second to On The Blind Side, a nine-length winner next time out.
Back against her own sex and nestled in the middle of the weights with a workable mark of 134, the 11/2 on offer looks good.
Softer ground is an unknown but there’s form on such a surface in her breeding and she’s unexposed on it coming into this race.
If she goes through it she has the course form and scope – she’s only five – to progress past these and win.
