Friday Meydan tips: Partenit (16/1), Storm Damage (13/2)

1m1f Al Rashidiya Presented By Riviera Beachfront By Azizi (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+)

I can’t resist the claims of the unexposed PARTENIT at 16/1 in this Group Two, mostly against older horses. The lightly raced four-year-old was an excellent second in Group Three company last season, soundly beating the French Guineas second – the French Guineas winner St Mark’s Basilica was crowned the world’s best racehorse in 2021, so that adds real substance to the form. He’s a good moving horse who should appreciate the better ground compared to what he’s raced on in France, and that he’s been thrown into such deep water on his first start for a new yard appears to be a vote of confidence. The price is very right and there are no superstars in opposition – he might just be the best horse in the race.

7f Al Fahidi Fort Presented By Mina By Azizi (Group 2) (Turf) (3yo+)

You should back STORM DAMAGE at Meydan because he has the best name. Jokes aside, he’s a highly progressive son of Night Of Thunder that won first time up last season and has been handed a plum draw in stall two for this 7f heat. 13/2 is a good price as the market is held up by Naval Crown, who took a couple of runs to show his best form last season and, like a couple of Charlie Appleby’s in Dubai this season, might need the run – he is only 3lb clear on ratings anyway, which translates to an easily accountable length or two.
