The favourite Juan Elcano is odds-on and would need to be comfortably the best of this six-runner field, which I’m not sure he is. The horse that beat him to Group Two glory at Newmarket bombed at Goodwood next time out, and there has to be questions regarding the strength of the form. The one with the nicest profile with regards to what I look for is THUNDEROUS for Mark Johnston, another son of first-season sire Night Of Thunder. He’s unbeaten and I’ve no concerns over soft ground given he’s out of a heavy ground winner and his sire’s progeny have handled it well so far. I think 6/1 that he’s the best horse in this race is too big. He’s narrowly preferred to Sun Power, who probably sets the form standard, and I wouldn’t put you off a reverse forecast at around 8/1.
