Saturday tips: Nina The Terrier (7/4), Ahoy Senor (15/8), Annsam (11/1)

2m½f  (2m69y) Ladbrokes Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Listed Race) (GBB Race)  (Class 1) (4yo+)

Elle Est Belle’s Champion Bumper third reads like top class form given recent history of the race and the fact that the fourth won easily on hurdles debut. However, she couldn’t beat NINA THE TERRIER in receipt of 8lb on her reappearance and that’s cut to 3lb today. Nina The Terrier looks like a hurdler going places and does everything right. She’s quick and slick over her hurdles, travels strongly and has a sharp turn of foot that makes her very competitive at flat tracks like Newbury. She should be favourite.

1pt win Nina The Terrier @7/4, 12:10 Newbury, Saturday

2m7½f  (2m7f86y) Ladbrokes John Francome Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race)  (Class 1) (4yo+)

AHOY SENOR shouldn’t be written off because he failed to complete his chasing debut, as his Aintree Grade 1 hurdles form still ranks the best on show here and he was racing competitively amongst proven Grade 1 performers on fencing debut before unseating. Miles clear on ratings with only three opponents today, I think 7/4 is a decent price in a market held up the Irish raider.

1pt win Ahoy Senor @15/8, 12:40 Newbury, Saturday

2m4½f  (2m4f118y) Get Your Ladbrokes £1 Free Bet Today Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)  (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-150)

I’ve had a small bet at 8/1 earlier in the week on the favourite Masters Legacy so clearly fancy his chances but couldn’t recommend him as a bet at 100/30. Lecale’s Article could be thrown in at 125 based on reputation but the form book says otherwise and I fancy ANNSAM is the bet at 11/1. Isabel Williams, who won last week’s big handicap hurdle at Haydock, claims 5lb and the horse has been dropped 1lb since being beaten a little over two lengths at Kempton last time out – the re-opposing winner Calva D’Auge was raised 2lb. I think the claim gives him an excellent chance as he was last off the bridle and showed plenty of tactical speed at Kempton before perhaps finding the trip too far or wanting for fitness.

1pt win Annsam @11/1, 13:50 Newbury, Saturday
